Mia Zabelka is an Austrian contemporary classical composer and sound artist as well as an amazing improvising violinist and vocalist. She has collaborated with a string of exiting artists including John Zorn, Lydia Lunch, Peter Kowald, Phil Minton, Fred Frith,Josef Klammer, Electric Indigo, Joelle Leandre, Carlos Zingaro, Maggie Nicols, John Russell and David Moss.She works with acoustic and electric violin, voice, electronic devices, contact mics and laptop. She has lived and worked in Vienna, Berlin, New York, Cologne and South Styria.Mia Zabelka’s first solo album „M“, released on Monotype Records (Poland) received many enthusiastic reviews from all over the world. 34 year old Israeli guitarist Ido Bukelman has been exploring ways to extract an ever-widening range of tones, challenging as well as delicate, from his instruments since the age of twelve.Ido plays in a variety of highly creative musical projects, including solo works (guitar, banjo, percussion), the Ground Birds (banjo-double bass duo), EFT (Electro Free Trio), and the Haunt Trio (free jazz).He has developed a highly idiosyncratic style since releasing his first trio album, City Tail, in 2009. At the time, he tended to reference saxophonist Ornette Coleman's harmolidics and guitarist Jimi Hendrix pyrotechnics.He has toured, and performed at jazz festivals, in Europe, with his trio and other groups.Ido has worked closely with many of Israel's top free jazz horn players, including internationally acclaimed Albert Beger and Harold Rubin, and New York-baesd Yoni Kretzmer, and is one of the most active artists on the Israeli scene today. Outside Israel, Ido has also played with the celebrated Brazilian jazz percussionist Airto Moreira, veteran German percussionist Gunter "Baby" Sommer and German trumpeter Axel Druner, Norwegian saxophonist Frode Gjerstad, and a hard core free jazz quartet with Polish saxophonist Mikołaj Trzaska. Ido has played a large number of solo acoustic works since 2010. On his solo albums, as well as in his solo live performances, he focuses on acoustic guitar, adding banjo bow, bells and some percussion, all played simultaneously.In addition to his acoustic works, Ido is also currently active in the unique, experimental EFT (Electro Free Trio) band - a bold attempt to fuse free improvisation and real time electronics, delving into free jazz, rock and noise. Ido is one of the founders of avant garde record label OutNow. Ido is also an educator. He teaches improvisation, coaches and mentors groups that play free improvised music at Muzik College in Tel Aviv.

Der Pianist und Keyboarder Jörg Hochapfel, geboren 1976 in Ravensburg, mitbegründete noch am Bodensee die Gruppe hunger, die nach Anfängen in der freien Improvisation und diversen Besetzungsänderungen bis heute im Duo mit Christoph Rothmeier (dr, tp, voc) musikalische Unfälle produziert (bisher auf 7 CDs im bei hungermuzik).Nach seinem Jazzklavierstudium an der Hamburger Musikhochschule war er über 10 Jahre lang fester Bestandteil der Hamburger Jazz- und Improvisations-Szene, nicht zuletzt mit seinen Bands Capri Di Rote Quintett mit Sebastian Hoffmann (tb), Gunnar Kockjoy (tp), Oliver Karstens (b) und Dirk-Achim Dhonau (dr) (2 CD-Veröffentlichungen bei bluepearlsmusic) und Barks mit Martin Pfleiderer (sax) und Björn Lücker (dr) (CD bei brennt rekords) sowie als Mitglied in John Hughes’ Trio Hosho und in der Sun Ra-Tribute Band Rocket Number 9.Außerdem spielt er immer noch bei der explosiven Hamburger Free Jazz-Combo Piho Hupo mit Rolf Pifnitzka (sax, fl, voc), John Hughes (b) und Chad Popple (dr, vib) (CD bei Buback Tonträger).Seit 2011 lebt er in Berlin und ist dort aktiv bei den experimentellen Chansonniers Princessin Hans (CD im Eigenverlag), der 17-köpfigen Großformation Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra (3 CDs bei Alien Transistor) und dem psychedelischen Afrofunk-Quintett Onom Agemo & The Disco Jumpers (CD/LP bei agogo records). Außerdem arbeitet er mit dem Elektroniker Uwe Haas an verschiedenen Projekten (u.a. Feldneun) und bildet mit Nils Kacirek zusammen das Filmmusikteam Zabots.

Ove Volquartz (Sopran-, Tenorsax., Basskl., Contrabasskl., Flöte) ist fest in der freien Szene verankert, davon zeugt seine Arbeit mit afroamerikanischen Musikern, u.a. Cecil Taylor, Lester Bowie, Roscoe Mitchell, Marion Brown) als auch der europäischen Avantgarde wie Gunter Hampel, Baby Sommer, Peter Kowald, Vladimir Chekassin... Konzertreisen, Festivalauftritte (z.B. Moers, Leverkusen, Leipzig), führten ihn durch ganz Europa bis nach Afrika. Plattenaufnahmen erfolgten u.a.mit Annexus Quam, Gunter Hampel, Abbey Rader, Cecil Taylor, TAG-Trio, Reciprocal Uncles, Second Exit ....In der letzten Zeit werden in Volquartz weitem musikalischen Spektrum die Kompositionstätigkeiten immer wichtiger, angesiedelt im weiten Feld zwischen Jazz und Neuer Musik. Neue Arbeitsschwerpunkte ergaben sich in der Kooperation mit dem Kirchenorganisten Peer Schlechta sowie in einem ganz anderem Bereich mit dem japanischen Butoh-Tänzer Tadashi Endo.In seinem Solospiel geht Volquartz weit über das Vokabular der Jazzmusik hinaus, ganz selbstverständlich und organisch werden die Klang- und Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten der Neuen Musik einbezogen. Darüber hinaus promovierte Volquartz als Musikwissenschaftler über psychologische Grundlagen der Improvisation.
